Out of the Dark & James Pendergrast Philips winner! SYNAPTIC LUX
Out of the Dark team has done it again. 2011 saw Angus and his incredible team create the interactive globes that softly change colour in a tree. Taking this beautiful installation to the next level, 2012 sees the design extended to a large 10m long canopy. The canopy will be suspended from a large tree and hang evenly over the footpath and part of the hill in Westin Park. It will be constructed from a mesh reinforcing grid. Philips is the proud sponsor of this beautiful piece of art.
Bio
Out of the Dark is an exciting creative company run by Angus Muir and Alexandra Heaney. Both Angus and Alexandra have recently completed their Masters of Architecture. Out of the Dark specializes in creating atmospheric architecture and is dedicated to creating new experiences for those who engage their work. They are based in New Zealand and are currently working on a number of interactive lighting installations at home and around the world. Their specialty is working specifically with the latest in LED technology and creating unique solutions for specific client needs and projects. James Pendergrast is currently completing a Spatial Design Degree at AUT. He also studied architecture with Angus and Alexandra at Auckland University.
