Jade Du Preez Songs From A Shadow Garden

Songs from a Shadow Garden

Songs from a Shadow Garden is a collaboration between visual artist, Jade du Preez, and some talented Auckland-based musicians. This series of 'live music videos' involves projection over performance, mixing sweet strings with surreal visuals.

Violinist Pearl Hindley will bring to life the instantly recognisable Hungarian folk song, Czardas, along with a set of Celtic tunes.

The second set features classical violinist Carolyn Alane, and Fiona Chua on keyboard. The musical director for this was none other than Fiona Chua, pianist and composer with a passion for musical theatre.

Jade du Preez

Jade du Preez is a graduate of Elam’s Bachelor of Fine Arts programme, and Media Design School’s course in 3D Animation. Working across media, du Preez’ work is concerned with ideas of translation in communal and transitory spaces. Locations including bus stops, waiting rooms, convention centres and subjects such as cosplayers, online date seekers, and gallery staff have all featured in projects over the years. To date du Preez has been involved in 3 solo and 17 group exhibitions.
