Bright Calm City Out in the Open - Night Poetry Trail

A series of poems by Bright Calm City that capture the moments we find hard to put into words. These poems, specifically about powerful fleeting moments that connect us, are transformed into illuminated free-standing artworks along a grass trail, creating a night poetry walk for everyone to enjoy and discover.

About the Artist

Karen Maurice O’Leary, aka Bright Calm City, started as an art director creating large scale commercial public installations, winning awards in Cannes, New York, London, Miami and Sydney, previously ranked as one of the top three creative minds in the Asia Pacific region by Campaign Brief.

She has now moved these skills into her art label, Bright Calm City, creating interactive and positive public installations. In 2013 installing her Complimentary Road Signs at Art in the Dark, a digital installation that generated positive comments to drivers traveling at the correct speed and also winning the SPLORE 2014 Red Bull Art of Camping with Sit with me, remind me I’m great – a giant park bench encouraging people to sit and share 3 positive compliments with each other.

She lives within the popular artist community of Waiheke Island, constantly exploring ways to connect people and spaces, creating positive environments.
